Kennedy Space Center Warehouse Building

The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Retail Warehouse Building is a state-of-the-art logistics and support facility designed to meet the operational needs of Delaware North’s expanding retail program. As the largest retail warehouse owned by Delaware North, the building provides efficient storage, distribution, and administrative functions to support the Visitor Complex’s diverse retail operations. This pre-engineered metal building features an R-panel exterior, delivering a cost-effective and durable envelope that complements the industrial functionality of the site while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic. The design integrates a Dockzilla loading dock system, offering a flexible and economical alternative to traditional concrete loading docks, optimizing both budget and construction time without compromising performance. Natural light and occupant well-being were prioritized through clerestory windows along the south façade, which introduce daylight deep into the open warehouse floor while reducing the reliance on artificial lighting. The building also includes thoughtfully designed support spaces such as a breakroom, open office work area, and mail room, fostering comfort, communication, and productivity for the operations team. Targeting LEED Silver certification, the project embodies Delaware North’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable design. Energy efficiency, material selection, and daylighting strategies were all integral to the design approach, aligning the facility with modern sustainability standards while enhancing the user experience.
