Project Description

Longdoggers

This project was an exercise in balance: executing simple repairs while adding new spaces, dressing up an exterior in need of attention while maintaining the integrity of the original Long Dogger’s vibe, not to mention balancing the visions of two owners. Jim McMillan, the owners’ designer, added his vision for the business’ A1A exposure, while we focused on the addition to the exterior seating areas. All exposed roof structure was replaced to achieve uniformity from existing to new. A new metal roof was added, a departure from Long Dogger’s signature translucent plastic. The existing parapet was extended South to shield views of the roof-top equipment and to add presence on A1A. The end result; a successful balance of updated functionality and exterior without losing the Long Dogger’s charm.
